With day 1 of my AOW dives over, It's time for day 2!
We headed out to Glover's Reef, which is further away from Placencia to the NE, so they make it a 3 tank dive day, and leave quite a bit earlier than usual to get 2 dives in the morning, and then a last one after lunch before coming back in.
We went on their larger boat (same as yesterday), which can accomodate (comfortably) 12-20 divers.
I was diving with Pablo (who did my OW the year prior), and you do get some options on the 'adventure' dives, and today was that day. Unfortunately, my brain went numb trying to remember what they were, so we ended up doing Boat and Fish ID. Two very easy ones to cover. Funny enough, I've never not dived off of a boat, and seen lots of fish. To do it over again, I'd chat with them beforehand about doing Nitrox, and a night dive, or DPV, or ..... but hindsight is 20/20.
Some of the positions you're supposed to show your buoyancy skills are pretty silly, whens the last time you needed to go into meditation under water vertically?
The lunch SI was on one of the resort islands, letting us use their patio for our BBQ and leisure time. During which, I was able to spot a black sea horse and a small octopus from the shore, among lots of smaller fish hanging about the pier.
Getting in the water and ready to go on the first dive took longer than I expected, and was suited up in seconds, getting overheated and dehydrated heading out into the sea ....
